On 12 March 2022, when the Tree Planting Day approached, GCL Technology launched the Internet Tree Planting Day themed "GCL Low-carbon Competition in Spring ". The program features three types of low-carboncompetition on the Ant Forest platform. The activity aims to guide the staff to experience a low-carbon lifestyle, contribute to biodiversity and fulfill the GCL mission of "focusing on green development, keep improving the environment we live in" through green travel, paper recycling & plastic reduction, and high-efficiency and energy saving operations. The event attracted 615 participants. The cumulative carbon footprint reduction of 222 participants in low-carbon competitions totaled 834,562.65 kg, and 182 participants for "cloud planting planted atotal of 2,570 trees.
In 2024, to mark the 8th anniversary of Ant Forest, GCL Technology’s tree-planting competition was a huge hit. Over the past five years, the number of GCL Technology employees participating in Ant Forest has grown steadily, with more and more of them making afforestation and low-carbon living a part of their daily lives. As of August 27, 2024, GCL Technology has had a total of 9,176 trees certified and planted through Ant Forest activities, a staggering 257% surge compared with 2,570 trees in 2022. The maximum number of trees planted by a single employee reached 1,404, and the average number of trees planted per person rose by 128%. Among the participants, 62 employees were awarded the title of "Forest Guardian Champion ", and 311 submitted tree-planting maps.
On the 10th anniversary of Ant Forest, GCL technology officially launched the "GCL Public Welfare Forest," integrating individual low-carbon behaviors into collective ecological action. As of March 11, 2026, GCL employees had cumulatively planted 28,910 virtual trees, representing an increase of 215% over 2024, with per capita tree planting reaching 39.5 times the national average. After the launch of the public welfare forest, it gained significant popularity, entering the platform's top three daily watering rankings on March 10. As of March12, cumulative watering volume had exceeded 41 tonnes, enough to plant 2,466 Caragana shrubs. Through its online public welfare tree-planting campaign, we lowered the threshold for public participation in environmental protection and effectively connected its "dualcarbon" (carbon peak and carbon neutrality) goals with everyday small actions.
